New Moon and Current Moon Phase
Good day,
Qodesh Books will be closed for the festival of Sukkot from 3 October 2025 and reopens on 22 October 2025.
We use CourierGuy, Aramex or PostNet (PostNet to PostNet) couriers (with delivery usually within 3 business days), but their parcel bags are quite small. Please contact us at 011/660-9075 or orders.books@qodesh.co.za to assist.
It is recommended that you look for the New Moon in your area. The New Moon (beginning of the new month) determines the dates of the festivals of the first month (Aviv) and the seventh month (Tishrei). It is very important to confirm the date of the New Moon of Aviv and Tishrei, for these will influence all the dates of the Set Apart appointments legislated in Wayyiqra (Leviticus) 23. The Scriptural year begins with the first New Moon after the barley in Israel reaches the stage in its ripeness called “aviv”. The legislated appointments of Wayyiqra 23 are all calculated from the New Moons.
The new moon was sighted from 2 locations in Cape Town just after sun set on 2 April 2022.
Next New Moon
The next new moon is calculated to be seen on 2 May 2022, you are encouraged to look for the new moon at your location.
The next Scriptural festival is Pesach 2022 - please see the calendar for more details.
